Miami,
FL - July, 2005 - Wimbledon men's singles champion Roger Federer, the new ambassador for Maurice LaCroix timepieces, met with retail partners including Gary Simon and associate Bob Ruden of Simon Jewelers during a two-day watch seminar in Miami, Florida. Simon, whose store has carried Maurice LaCroix's Masterpiece collection since 2001, says the LaCroix-Federer partnership is an ideal match since both Swiss icons symbolize precision and aesthetics and are rising stars in their fields. "Maurice LaCroix is a relentless pursuer of perfection using sophisticated detailing and classic designs normally found only in much costlier timepieces," he said. "Their names have become synonymous with excellence as both continue to overtake their competition."
Simon is referring to Federer's recent win at Wimbledon, where he won his third straight men's singles title by defeating Andy Roddick in one hour and 41 minutes. This was the 36th consecutive win on grass for the 23-year-old, who became the Swiss national tennis champion at age thirteen. Likewise, Maurice LaCroix has taken over center court in Europe as Germany's number one choice in the higher complication Swiss watch arena, according to statistics presented at the watch seminar. Roger Federer's multi-year agreement to serve as spokesperson and symbol for Maurice LaCroix was signed in June of 2004 and includes watch models and personal appearances.
Federer was in Miami this spring to compete at the 2005 NASDAQ 100, one of the premier stops on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) tour. For one evening, he met with over forty Maurice LaCroix retail partners at the Brickell Tennis Club, an event highlighted by the opportunity to volley with Roger on the court. Simon and Ruden were in Miami to preview the new Roger Federer Masterpiece collection that is now being carried in Simon's High Point store. "Simon Jewelers is proud to be a part of history in the making through its affiliation with Maurice LaCroix and the new Federer series. We have been very succesful with the Masterpiece collection and expect the same of this new line."
